SHOOT THE PIANO PLAYER (1960) “I dunno what it is about crime in France, but these New Wave cats always make it seem like it’s kind of fun and has no consequences. ‘I killed a man!’ ‘Eh. I explained to the police it was self-defense. You’re clear. Play jazz piano!’ Like…this and BAND OF OUTSIDERS and PIERROT LE FOU. It’s like crime is just a plot device.
